For over a decade, we have set the benchmark for specialised male waxing in Perth. Unlike general beauty therapists, we are trained in advanced, meticulous techniques designed specifically for men's hormonal or genetic hair growth, techniques not taught in Perth beauty colleges.
Tricia was trained by Giselle Lizzie at her private waxing school in Leederville, Perth (1988)
Founder of Male Waxing Specialist Perth and MrWax – Created, taught, pioneered and perfected male waxing techniques long before they were available anywhere else in Western Australia
Precision, hygiene & clinical-level care – Men's hair removal is NOT standard waxing services nor incorporated into beauty school curriculum.
We don’t just remove hair, we sculpt, shape, clipper and blend with expert techniques that ensure comfort, efficiency, and natural-looking results.
For many men, back hair is as much of a concern as leg hair is for women, but removing it isn’t something men can do themselves.
Proper skin prep & technique – Reduces irritation, discomfort & ingrown hairs
Designed for coarse hair removal – But not harsh to the skin, efficient, smooth results
Minimised pain with the right approach – Waxing should not be an unnecessarily painful experience
If you’ve never been waxed, imagine pulling off a band-aid with hair attached, that’s the sensation. This is why technique matters, and why an experienced operator makes all the difference.
Thick hair? First-time waxing? We make the process as comfortable as possible.
When it comes to intimate waxing, 100% experience matters.
Delicate areas require clinical-level care – The thin, fragile skin of the penis and scrotum demands absolute precision
We use expert techniques to prevent tears, burns & excessive discomfort
Discreet, professional & focused on hygiene – A nurse-like, clinical approach ensures safety
Not everyone is trained for this. If someone isn’t experienced in men’s intimate waxing, they shouldn’t be doing it.
Fresh, clean, and confidence-boosting, can take years of a face.
No over-waxing – Man brows are only tidied, they don't need shaping.
Safe and hygienic, precise techniques for nostrils & ears
We only offer waxing for the:
Back and Shoulders
Genitals (includes rectal area)
Nostrils, ears & brows
We no longer offer waxing for arms, legs, chest, bottoms or stomachs due to the time commitment involved and low interest in beauty therapists wanting to learn or do male waxing(We understand, It's labour intensive and not for the faint hearted)
Only Tricia and one other therapist are trained in our specialised male waxing techniques.
This level of expertise is rare and cannot be found in chain salons.
Incorrect techniques can rupture delicate blood vessels, chronic nosebleeds & infection risk
Hygiene concerns, always check if disposable sticks are being used (never reused!)
If you see wax sticks with used wax on them, walk out otherwise your about to have someone else's skin cells and fluids on your skin.
These areas are not suited for waxing, permanent aesthetic damage can be done
Instagram doesn’t show after effects of waxing a scalp or face, many viral posts used "for a laugh" don’t have hair under the wax, yet it encourages others to try it with painful outcomes, where skin is removed.
Our honest advice? Don’t risk traumatising your skin.
Male waxing isn’t just about removing hair, it’s about understanding men's needs, comfort, and precision.
Tricia is the only professional male waxing trainer in Western Australia – No one else teaches advanced and intimate male waxing techniques
Trained by the best – Meticulous Method of Hair Removal Certification at Giselle Lizzie's private waxing school in 1988
Industry pioneer – MrWax was founded in 2014 servicing, perfecting & teaching male waxing techniques

Men’s Grooming: Brows, Ears, and Nose Hair
We specialise in natural, tidy brows, long-lasting ear hair waxing, and precise nose hair removal using safe, professional and hygienic techniques. For permanent solutions, we offer SHR/laser or electrolysis for darker or white hairs. Regular monthly maintenance ensures you stay sharp and confident. Our skilled approach delivers clean, natural results designed specifically for men.
Men's Grooming: Brows, Ears, and Nose Hair
Men’s Brows: Natural and Neat
Men typically prefer their brows to retain their natural shape with just a tidy-up, no reshaping or thinning needed. The focus is on cleaning up the middle (addressing monobrows) and creating symmetry, keeping a masculine and well-maintained look. Our team is specifically trained in men’s grooming, ensuring natural results. For those wanting a more defined or feminine shape, we can accommodate upon request.
Ear Hair: Waxing and Permanent Solutions
Ear hair is often overlooked but can be bothersome. Waxing offers a longer-lasting solution than shaving, which can leave stubble within days. For men with white hairs, we recommend electrolysis for permanent removal. If your ear hair is darker, SHR/laser provides an effective long-term solution, best addressed before the hair turns grey or white.
Nose Hair: Precision and Care
Nose hair waxing requires expert technique to avoid damaging sensitive tissues and blood vessels. We use safe, professional methods to keep nose hair under control, ensuring precision and comfort. For a permanent solution, we offer advanced SHR/laser or electrolysis treatments.
Maintenance: Consistent and Comfortable
To keep unwanted hair at bay, regular maintenance is key. Monthly waxing ensures you always look sharp without overgrowth between sessions.
Our professional and skilled techniques prioritise your comfort while delivering clean, natural results for your brows, ears, and nose. Leave feeling fresh, confident, and ready for anything.
We provide clinical, professional waxing tailored specifically for the sensitive areas of the penis, scrotum, and rectal region (excluding the bottom cheeks). Most men choose to keep the hair above the penis, which can be trimmed, tidied and blended, or opt for full removal. Both options are included in the service with no additional charge.
A Professional Male Waxing Service
We provide a clinical, professional waxing service tailored specifically for the sensitive areas of the penis, scrotum, and rectal region. Performed exclusively by Tricia, Perth’s first and original Male Waxing Specialist, this treatment is backed by over two decades of expertise, ensuring precision, care, and safety with every session.
Tricia: A Pioneer in Male Waxing
In 2002, Tricia broke new ground, appearing on 92.9FM to discuss the "back, sack, and crack" wax, at a time when intimate male waxing was almost unheard of. She highlighted the need for mature, skilled professionals, explaining that this delicate service is not suitable for untrained beauty therapists or cosmetologists(which is a name some nail and makeup artists or hairdressers and barbers refer to themselves as)
Why Expertise and Training Matter
Male waxing requires specialised training, which is not included in Australian Beauty College curriculums. Not even female Brazilian waxing is included in a beauty diploma, therefore we are a long way of teaching men's. Waxing intimate areas demands an understanding of anatomy, skin conditions, and proper technique to avoid tearing, burns, or injuries. The area contains very fine and thin skin. Can also have blood spots close to the skins surface or skin tags in the area requiring a careful eye. Tricia’s expertise includes recognising factors like what is dry and what appears to be a fungal flare up or inflammed skin caused by chaffing, body washes, detergents or hard water, skins that have become thinner that require more customised techniques, ensuring safe and effective treatments to avoid grazing the skin.
A Service That Reflects Expertise
The cost of this service is an investment in your care, reflecting Tricia’s extensive skills, training, and expertise. As a certified Dermal Practitioner and Beauty Therapist, she combines education, experience, and professionalism to deliver the highest standard of treatment.
While the thought of waxing may seem intimidating at first, many clients find the process becomes much easier after the initial session. With Tricia, you’re in expert hands, receiving a specialised service designed to prioritise your safety, comfort, and confidence.
More Than Just a Back Wax
Our service goes beyond basic waxing, offering trimming, seamless blending, and a natural fade-out where shoulder hair transitions to chest hair, top arms meet the t-shirt line, and back hair blends into bottom hair. With the right preparation, technique, and education, issues like ingrown hairs and breakouts can be effectively prevented, ensuring your skin looks and feels its best after every session.
Professional Men’s Back Waxing: Expertise Makes a Difference
Our back waxing service goes beyond simple hair removal, incorporating trimming, blending, and a natural fade-out where shoulder hair meets chest hair, top arms meet the t-shirt line, or back hair transitions to bottom hair.
Why Expertise Matters in Men’s Back Waxing
Waxing can be a painful and damaging experience when performed by an untrained individual. Unfortunately, finding experienced professionals in men’s waxing remains a challenge in Perth. Men’s skin differs significantly from women’s, being 20–25% thicker, producing more sweat and oil, and retaining more heat due to active sebaceous glands. This makes men prone to breakouts and acne, especially on the back and chest. Replacing unwanted hair with painful inflammation or breakouts is far from ideal—this is where a skilled therapist makes all the difference by providing guidance to prevent these issues.
The Training Gap in Male Waxing
Men’s waxing requires specialised techniques that are not taught in Australian beauty colleges. Unfortunately, many cosmetologists(as some hairdressers, barbers, nail technicians, makeup artists, and general beauticians may refer to themselves as) lack the necessary training and experience for male waxing yet will 'give it a go'. Lack of relevant training leaves therapists ill-prepared and clients dissatisfied.
Recognising this gap, I’ve dedicated decades to bridging it, training countless beauty therapists in this specialised field. As Western Australia’s sole provider of male waxing training, I’ve worked to ensure that every treatment prioritises men’s comfort, safety, and unique needs.
A Specialised Process: More Than Hair Removal
Professional male waxing involves techniques tailored to men’s skin and body:
Men Deserve Expert Care
Men deserve treatments performed by trained professionals who understand their unique needs. Proper training ensures waxing is a comfortable and effective solution rather than a painful ordeal.
By choosing skilled professionals, we elevate the standard of care, ensuring every client leaves feeling confident and satisfied. There are no shortcuts when it comes to delivering the expertise and attention men's skin requires.
When it comes to hair removal, the method you choose can make a big difference in how your skin feels as hair grows back. Here's how waxing compares to shaving and hair removal creams... Shaving: Shaving cuts the hair off at the skin’s surface, leaving a blunt edge. As the hair grows back, it feels coarse and prickly, which can be uncomfortable. Hair Removal Creams: These strong alkaline based creams dissolve hair at the skin’s surface and may slightly penetrate beneath the top layer of skin, offering an extra day of hair-free smoothness. However, as the hair grows back, it may still feel rough and prickly due to a blunt edge. Waxing: Waxing removes hair completely from the follicle, allowing it to grow back with a naturally tapered edge. This means no prickles, more of a softer, natural-feeling hair growth.
Transitioning from Shaving to Waxing: If you’ve been shaving or clipping, it will take approximately three waxing sessions, spaced one month apart, for all your hair to grow through at the same stage. This ensures a natural, soft finish. Regular waxing at consistent intervals is key to achieving the best results. Consistency Matters: Sticking to a four-week schedule for most areas ensures your skin stays smooth, and hair removal becomes more comfortable over time. It also helps you avoid irregular hair growth patterns, where hair grows at different stages, making it harder to maintain smoothness. Exfoliation for Healthy Skin: To prevent ingrown hairs and keep your skin in optimal condition, we recommend using a chemical exfoliant rather than a physical one like a back scrubber or hard loofah. A chemical exfoliant gently removes dead skin cells and clears impurities, allowing hair to grow through without obstruction. This simple step will help keep your skin smooth and irritation-free.
Waxing Aftercare: Back Waxing Tips-for the Best Results To keep your skin smooth and healthy after a back wax, it’s important to follow these aftercare steps for the first 24 to 36 hours. Proper care minimises the chance of small pimples that may appear when coarse hair is removed from follicles. Here’s what we recommend: Keep It Clean: Only touch freshly waxed skin with clean, freshly washed hands. Avoid unnecessary contact to reduce exposure to bacteria. Avoid Exercise: Skip the gym for at least 36 hours. Perspiration causes bacteria on the skin, leading to irritation or breakouts. Use our After-Wax Wash: Prevention is better than cure, we recommend a specialised after-wax wash, available at our clinic. This step is especially important during summer to keep your skin clear—because there’s no point in swapping hair for pimples! Mind Your Surroundings: Avoid sitting on furniture without a shirt, as bacteria on surfaces like couches or beds can irritate your skin. Avoid Certain Activities: We suggest for 36 hours, keep away from saunas, chlorinated pools, and direct sun exposure to protect your skin. Please note that we cannot wax sunburnt skin. Following these steps will ensure your back waxing results stay smooth and irritation-free. If you have concerns about breakouts, our recommended wash can work wonders. Let us help you maintain clean and confident skin!
You are not alone, some men have driven past for 6-24 months too worried to visit in case that happened. That is what we don't want, for you to be so anxious and worried. Many men have had this same concern and then have had nothing to worry about. With the thought being much worse than the event of having a treatment done, you do not need to worry as it most likely will not happen to you either. This is not a treatment to be done by a regular beauty therapist who has not had specific male genital training, it is a specialised service that requires a mature and well trained professional. Scrotums and penises have thin, delicate skin plus we are removing bothersome hair around the anus. This is a clinical treatment, and is performed that way. Our pricing reflects the advanced skills and professionalism in our hygienic and clinical environment.
Avoid hot showers and harsh soaps prior to your treatment. Moisturising your skin the morning of your treatment is beneficial. Some men use Numbit from a pharmacy to ease the sting prior to treatment. Trim long hairs the night before when hair is long, if treatments are kept 4-6 weeks apart there is no need for trimming. A shower isn't always convenient but we do provide wet wipes for you to take a moment to freshen up before your treatment begins.
Yes without doubt therefore we strongly advise searching and looking for a Therapist who is experienced in male hair removal to avoid unecessary pain. Any form of Male Waxing is not taught at Beauty Colleges in Australia so as a duty of care, we suggest you ask the question before booking yourself what could be an unforgettable experience of the worst type for you plus the unskilled therapist expected to fluke it and know.
Hairs are always growing and replacing, if you stick to the same intervals between appointments that suits your hair growth pattern, you should be able to get 2-3 weeks of smooth skin after a treatment. For the first 3 waxes make appointments 4 weeks apart to have your hairs growing in the same pattern. From that point we will help you decide if every, 4,5 or 6 weeks will suit your growth the best. Just don't mix intervals up otherwise you will continually have break through hair appearing on the smooth area almost daily.
